Welcome to The Syracuse Rocket Club
The Syracuse Rocket Club promotes and encourages safe hobby rocketry in the Central New York area
Next Club Meeting: Monday February 3, 2020 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Walt's Hobby. Meeting Topic: NARAM 62. The Syracuse Rocket Club is co-hosting the National Association of Rocketry Annual Meet (NARAM) on July 25 - 31, 2020 in Geneseo, NY. Our co-host for the event is the Monroe Astronautical Rocket Society (MARS Club). At our February meeting we will discuss specifics of NARAM 62 and our club's responsibilities for the event. New to model rocketry? Bring your rocketry projects or questions to our meeting - we'll provide answers, tips and ideas to help you get ready to launch.
Beginner Rocket Building Session: Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Walt's Hobby.
Join us for a beginning rocket building class. The cost will be $5 per person. Each attendee will build a flying model rocket to take home. Syracuse Rocket Club members will guide you through each step of building your rocket, show you how to prepare it for flight and get you ready to start flying rockets in 2020. Call Walt's Hobby (315-453-2291) to reserve your spot in the class.
Next Sport Launch: Saturday, May 16, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Weigand's Field.
2019 was a great year for the Syracuse Rocket Club. Great flying weather, new families, new members, and great contest competition helped us achieve a record number of flights for a season. We want to make 2020 an even better year. Join us for our winter club meetings. Build some new rockets this winter and fly with us in 2020.
Contest Flying in 2020: In 2020 the Syracuse Rocket Club will be assisting the Monroe Astronautical Rocket Society in hosting NARAM 62. This is the National Association of Rocketry's annual contest meet, which includes the finals of the National Rocketry Competition and a sport launch. It will take place on July 25-31, 2020 at the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo. We have been holding informal competitons at our monthly launches for several years. With NARAM coming to New York State in 2020, Syracuse Rocket Club will be promoting NAR-sanctioned contest flying at all of our launches.
The Syracuse Rocket Club welcomes families and anyone interested in the hobby to attend our launches. We have rockets available for children to fly and take home. We will teach new flyers how to prep and fly their rockets. Join us at our next monthly club meeting or launch.
Check this web site the evening before the launch to confirm launch status.
